Konami; Castlevania Mirror of Fate might come to HD consoles
Nintendo 3DS News
Remember how a few weeks ago Capcom announced that Resident Evil Revelations was being remade into a HD game for the Wii U, PS3 and Xbox 360? Well interestingly enough it seems like this isn’t the only 3DS exclusive that might be getting this treatment. No, Konami have said they’re interested in the possibility of turning Castlevania Lords of Shadow Mirror of Fate into a game for HD systems as well. Here’s what they had to say about the idea:
We created everything in high definition – all the textures, all the levels, high-poly models, everything – and we kind of shrunk it all down into the 3DS.
Then we lost bones from characters, you know, we dropped the resolution of the textures and everything to make it fit. At MercurySteam we have an HD version of the game sitting there in a computer somewhere.
“We want as many people to play it as possible. Obviously we have an exclusivity deal with Nintendo right now though and they’ve been very supportive of the product.
So in other words, the only real reason the game’s being kept as a 3DS exclusive is because of an exclusivity deal with Nintendo and developers MercurySteam are considering the possibility of porting it over to HD consoles if the 3DS game does well enough.
Could we see another case of a 3DS ‘exclusive’ being rereleased on the Wii U and other similar systems? And if so, do you think that the game would work pretty well on the Wii U with the extra technical power the console is capable of and the Game Pad’s touch screen to replicate the 3DS consoles?
